Question by roo?s mom : is it legal to sign a lease renting out a house you have not even found yet, let alone purchased ?
A friend of ours was asked to sign a one year lease and hand over a $ 500.00 deposit to another friend who is planning on buying a house for them to live in. This person has not even started looking for a house and to make things even more interesting, our friend is mentally challenged. Ethically, I believe there is something very wrong here but how about legally? We are in New York State. Best answer:
